M.V.T.I. inventory of buildings and structures in 1962. Formerly Fort Preble, wharf and surrounding buildings: 28, 12 and 15.
The Wharf and Pier Head are identified as Building 28.
The construction date of the wharf is unknown. Wharf construction was stone with dry rubble, retaining walls filled with stone and ashes.
The Pier Head was built in 1903 at a cost of $7,331. Oak piles, stone and wood foundation, pine timber floor.
Building 12, just to the right of the road leading to the wharf, was the Cable Storehouse. Construction of the Cable Storehouse was completed on November 21, 1910, at a cost of $4,200. Concrete foundation, floor and walls, slate roof.
Building 15, at far right, was the Ordnance Machine Shop, built in 1902 at a cost of $1,610. Stone foundation, brick walls, wood floor and slate roof.
