Description |
The Addie M. Lawrence, a six-masted schooner. The Addie M. Lawrence was launched on December 17, 1902, from the Percy and Small shipyard in Bath, Maine. She was built for J.S. Winslow & Co., Portland, Maine. She was 292 feet long and 48 feet wide. Her first commander was Captain William R. Kreger. The Addie M. Lawrence had a collision with a Boston fishing schooner, the Shenandoah, on August 27, 1912, off of Nantucket; the Shenandoah sank, but the crew was rescued. The Addie M. Lawrence was used to carry war-time supplies during WWI. Her last voyage was off the coast of France when she went aground in a gale on July 9, 1917. |
