Groundbreaking at the site of the Greater Portland Memorial Music Shell at the South Portland High School athletic field in South Portland, Maine. Watching the proceedings are, left to right: John H. Mann, member of the South Portland school board; Gerald E. Lord, chairman of the South Portland city council; Louise H. Armstrong, Portland, past president of the Maine Federation of Music Clubs; Nellie L. McCann, Gorham, president of the music club; and Bassett P. Perkins, commander of the Stewart P. Morrill Post. The shell is a demountable project and will be disassembled in the fall. |
