913 Sawyer Street. Brief article about Adelena F. Dyer, local poet and daughter of Greely H. and Mary Quimby Dyer, and direct descendant of the Brackett family of Portland. She was still living in the ancestral home at 913 Sawyer Street. She was part of the first class to graduate from Cape Elizabeth High School. A second photo shows her with classmates Edward C. Reynolds, Lydia Frances Hutchins (Mrs. Campbell) and Margaret L. Minott (Mrs. Cobb). A third photo shows a rock on the Dyer estate inscribed "Mark Dyer, July 4th, 1776, Aged 17". Mark Dyer was a cabinet maker and representative to the Boston Legislature. Published in the Portland Evening News, May 16, 1928. |
