South Portland City Councilors decided to informally give the E Street School in Knightville to two businessmen for $1 - Robert Sloat and Robert Thayer. The men planned to put $100,000 worth of renovations and additions into the building which would be used for office space. Before they could officially give away the building, the city had to survey property lines and clear up a dispute with neighbors of the building who worried there would be too many employees and clients disrupting the neighborhood.
