Launch of the SS Enoch Train on October 12, 1943. The Liberty ship was constructed by New England Shipbuilding Corporation in South Portland, Maine. The ship was named for a Massachusetts trading merchant from the 19th century. It was christened by Fanny Drake, daughter of one of the shipyard workers, John Spiers. Published in the Portland Evening Express, October 12, 1943. |
