Maine Steel, Inc. - Presentation of the United States Maritime Commission "M" Award to Maine Steel, South Portland, Maine, April 17, 1943. The M Award was a merit award issued by the US Maritime Commission to industrial plants that were providing excellent and critical service to the shipbuilding program during WWII. The award consisted of a flag with the letter M that could be flown on the company's flag pole, and badges of merit that all employees could wear. Program contains a list of all Maine Steel employees who were currently serving in the military. |
