Josephine Cobb, member of the Maine Old Cemeteries Association, will be an exhibitor at the Clearing House annual picnic. Miss Cobb will display a cemetery stone "rubbing" of Miss Lydia Carver, one of 15 passengers who perished on the shipwreck of the Schooner Charles, on a reef of rocks near the shore of Richmond Island, Cape Elizabeth. Miss Cobb has written a history of the wreck of the Charles and a study of the persons who were aboard when the disaster occured in 1807. Published in the Portland Press Herald, July 16, 1974. |
