1873 - Bug Light has been moved 160 feet northeast from its old position. Published in the Portland Daily Press, December 5, 1873. The breakwater over Stanford's Ledge in South Portland, Maine, was extended from 1,800 feet to 1,990 feet in 1872-1873. This article notes the repositioning of the lighthouse further out on the extended breakwater. |
