Notes |
In 1964, Terry Christy's 8th grade U.S. history class (division 895) and others worked on a project for Look magazine to identify a need in the community. The class focused on the past efforts for creating a library in the city and the current need for a library. After three months of research, a presentation was made to the South Portland City Council. As a result of the presentation, and the guidance of City Manager Bernal Allen, a study committee was formed, an architect was hired, and the South Portland Public Library was built in 1966. |
