He is known as a community volunteer, cheerleading many causes. - Chuck created and continues to run the annual Stuff the Bus food drive to benefit the Preble Street Resource Center around Thanksgiving; - he volunteers at the Maine Narrow Gauge Railway each December, performing as Santa Claus on their Polar Express rides around Christmas; - he helps create the sets for the annual South Portland High School musical; - he is one of the "grillmasters" at the historical society's annual Bug Light Kite Festival and 4th of July events, and has served as the organization's announcer and has volunteered at numerous events over the years; - Chuck is known locally as someone who is always available to help a friend or elderly neighbor in need.
