On page 3: Captain Littlejohn, in schooner Emma, sailed to the Kennebec to load ice for a southern port; Eben Simonton made a lot of money raising hens at Cushing's Point; death of Reuben Higgins, formerly county commissioner, found dead in his bed on Thursday morning, of heart disease, he was 75; past and present history of Fort Preble. On page 4: Advertisement - Swill for sale by the barrel or load, J.L. Taylor, Meeting House Hill, Cape Elizabeth; the People's Ferry is running their boat, the Cornelia H, between Long Wharf in Portland and Ferry Village, one four-cent ticket gives the purchaser the privilege of the entire day on the harbor. |
