Main Street looking north. Visible are signs for the Exit 7 Motel at 762 Main Street, the Blaine Motor Inn run by Blaine and Peg Raymond at 778 Main Street, and a sandwich board advertising produce for sale at Mitchell's Fruit & Produce at 782 Main Street. According to resident Carol Flynn Allen, if you were on Main Street looking at the house at 762 Main Street, the Exit 7 Motel was just behind it and to the left, a little square motel building with 3 or 4 units in it, on the corner of Main and Noyes Street. The Exit 7 Motel was built by the McGinnis family that lived in the main house, and the motel was run by Mrs. McGinnis. The Blaine Motor Inn was in an old renovated barn at the back of the property; a dirt driveway went along the right side of the house and way out back to the Motor Inn that had 4, 5 or 6 units in it. Blaine Raymond was a salesman and on the road a lot; his wife Peg ran the Blaine Motor Inn. |
