1969 team photo, Ametek Redskins, a Portland Twilight League baseball team. The team had a 26 - 6 record for the season. Regular season champions, Southwestern Maine Invitational Tournament champions. Front row: Alan Twombly, Bob Curry, Steve Morin, Alan Livingston, Bruce (Chop) Ballard, Brian Gordon, Rod Choroszy Back row: Bob Philbrick, Ron Speirs, Ned Beyer, John Lambert, Dave Sprague, Dave Demers, Dick Curry, Marc Flaherty Missing: Mike Paquette, Harold Ware South Portland had a baseball team in the Portland Twilight League from roughly 1961 to 1995. The first team was organized by City Manager Bernal Allen and was known as the South Portland Merchants (circa 1961 to 1964), then was sponsored by Ametek and renamed the Ametek Redskins (1965 to 1970), and changed its name back to the South Portland Merchants (1971 to 1995). |
