Sawyer Street looking towards Front Street. At left is the South Portland Theatre; this movie theater was known as the Nordica Theatre in the late 1910s to circa 1920, the Strand Theatre in the 1920s and early 1930s, and the Seville Theatre in the late 1930s. On the right is the Albert E. Thurrell apothecary which opened as early as 1877; Thurrell would turn the drug store over to Walter Dow around 1917. |
