Six-masted schooner, George W. Wells. The George W. Wells was launched on 14 August 1900 from the Holly M. Bean Shipyard in Camden, Maine. The Wells holds the distinction of being the first six-master ever built. She was 342 feet long, 48 feet wide, and had a cargo-carrying capacity of 5,000 tons. |
