Dawson on April 14, 1945, from the East Yard of New England Shipbuilding Corporation, South Portland, Maine. The ship sponsor was Mrs. Bernadette Langlois, wife of Levi "Smokey" Langlois, a crane operator at the yard. The commemorative plate identifies the name of the sponsor, ship and date of the launch. |
