Rigger and ship chandler David Boyd first started out in the rigging business as an apprentice to Mr. Wiley. He then went into business for himself. In the early 1860s, he formed a partnership with Gardiner F. Hanson in Portland, Maine, called Boyd & Hanson. He ended that partnership around 1870. He then went into the ship chandlery business with John Yeaton, succeeding the firm of Yeaton & Hale with their new business called Yeaton & Boyd. His partnership with John Yeaton was dissolved in 1878. |
